Tramonto's...Menu for DISASTER

This look on Rick Tramonto's face seems to say "I'm just trying to make money, what can I say if my food stinks? "

A craving for Skirt Steak was on my palate last night.

I was so utterly disgusted and annoyed that I wanted to walk out and head to my local Buffalo's Diner.

Tramonto's had the Jess Essentials on the menu according to their website:

1- Soup...The French onion was delivered after sitting on the counter for close to 10 minutes.
Suffice to say, the soup was cold. However, they did manage to get the cheese crust extra well done and bubbly as I requested.
I will remember to ask for HOT soup as well next time ( which there won't be !)

2- Salad...A simple green salad with tomatoes, chick peas, and cucumbers was the description...A bag of lettuce drenched in water from your local grocery store would be a better description. Oh, and with 2 cherry tomatoes, 3 chickpeas and cucumber dices. Definitely worth the money, ha!
If you like wet lettuce, then look no further.

3-Steak...Skirt steak was my choice of poison for the night. I went against my normal Strip steak standard and that may have been the mistake. But, either way the food wasn't exactly 4 stars so far....
BBQ slathered, unchewable steak would have been the proper description on the menu. I wonder how many people would order that ? BBQ lovers would even squirm at the taste of bottled bbq sauce poured over this meat.

Oh, and don't forget about the sides. Making a point to order a variety of sides and see which compliments my meal best is always a priority.

Sides for the night:
1- Twice baked potatoe...Melted 3 layers of provolone cheese thrown on top of the potato sounds about right. Once you peel back the very unappealing layer of glop, the underneath portion of the potato was edible...

Probably just because I was starving after the BBQ steak fiasco.

2- Sauteed Mushrooms...20 minutes after my steak arrived, a slathering of mushrooms in, you guessed it, a BBQ esque marinade arrived.

At this point, after asking our waiter and two water patrons repeatedly about the side order, only a flying plate of mushrooms with gold on top from another planet could save the night.

Let's just put it this way,,,,Olive Garden's mushrooms at about half the cost put these to shame.

JessSum Up:
Willing to waste your money and eat a deceivingly delicious meal based on the menu? Then head to Tramonto's!

Di Pescara....Fish is on my mind after this disaster !

Sullivan's...No-go on menu.

- Major deterence's in locales I frequent....Terrible website/listing a menu that does not satisfy my palate simply means I will not waste my time or money there.

Sullivan's menu is the point at hand.

I was craving a steak, which they have. But, I have to have my essential side items.
No questions asked. If I'm going to be spending more than a handful of money, I best get everything I deserve.

First and main menu mistake: NO evidence of a simple green salad with tomatoes and some type of a vinegariatte dressing. How can you eat a great steak and not have some tomatoes to go along with it?

I love trying new restaurants, and will in fact probably go to Sullivan's one day.

I will make sure that I have already eaten my share of salad and tomatoes before I arrive.

3 Essentials 2 Dining Perfection...NYC

Is it really that hard to find the 3 Jess Basics?
1- Chicken or Matzah ball soup....non of this cream, bisque crap
2- Salad with more than TWO tomatoes on it...and some decent Vinager dressing on the side,,,no not balsamic, thank you
3- Simply grilled Salmon...or Skirt Steak..and how about a side of sauteed spinach with garlic on the side? Maybe some grilled button top mushrooms? A little toasty french bread to dunk with ?

I do not think I'm asking for too much...but apparently the only TYPE of place that can seem to accomplish this is and my constant craving for PERFECTION is....you guessed it....a

DINER!

1- Top NYC diner....Odessa...Soup in a bowl the size of your head, FRESH challah bread, simple grilled salmon with about a GAZILLION tomatoes on the side if you ask for it. And of course the sauteed spinach and delicious rice. Did I mention they have vino for ab 4 bucks in a cup that could hold 3 glasses worth?

Oh, that reminds me,,,good atmosphere, meaning singable music in the background is an essential as well.

Julie, my waitress there, is an essential as well...knew my order before I got my coat off...and Ziggy would get on that vino before I asked...don't forget my buddy Brandon who is going to be some big Political hotshot and loved my old Olbermann stories from when I got my paycheck from MSNBC...

....When it comes down to it, I don't care how damn good the food is. If I feel like I'm stuck in a corner, staring at a wall with no interaction whatsoever, I will leave. Trust me. No guilt here buddy.

If I'm going out to eat and spend my money, I'm looking for a damn good meal and some form of entertainment. Period.

Happiest Lemon Girl in the World..

When I'm sitting with Wrigley, drinking a Thai Ice tea- preferably from Open Sesame in Nyc on my former stomping ground Allen & Delancey- perfecto.

I think i shocked the world the first time i asked for a Thai Ice tea, no milk, and with extra Lemon pieces....

Funny how little things always stick with ya...and did I mention the owner of the thai place had another spot in the LES and as soon as I walk in the crazy, cute gal with Princess Laia piggy buns and her oh so sweet Blonde haired super chic vogue companion ( think of Will from Will and Grace, but Asian) both scream Lemon Girl! :-)!
